Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a lecturer and consultant, a speaker, columnist syndicated, author, and TV presenter. The Corcoran Group, an NYC real estate brokerage was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran is one of ABC’s initial Shark Tank investors. Since her inception she has appeared in every 12 season of Shark Tank. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts until February of 2020. Her largest deal was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 children born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was constantly switching jobs throughout Corcoran's career. At times, the family depended on food delivery for free from a friendly local grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father being an intoxicated man who would sometimes treat her mother with contempt and disrespect, particularly after having consumed alcohol. Corcoran struggled in school, and eventually discovered that she was dyslexic. She attended an area Catholic elementary school and started high school in St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran, who had failed many classes during her first year of high school, was transferred to Leonia High School. There, she received a D.
