Kamala Harris

Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20 1964. She is an American politician. She is both the first female vice-president and the highest-ranking female official in the United America. She is a member of Congress and a former US senator representing California. Harris was born and was raised in Oakland, California. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. She was then recruited by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General of California. She was reelected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the first African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. As a senator she advocated health reform, federal descholaring for cannabis, a pathway for immigrants who are not legal citizens as well as the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. Harris also backed progressive tax reform. She is best known for her direct questions to Trump administration officials in Senate hearings.
